Engagement Ring Trends for 2027

More personality. Less playing it safe. If I had to sum up my engagement ring predictions for 2027, that would be my starting point.

I'm Nikki Galloway, designer and founder of Nude Jewellery. Colour, unexpected combinations and distinctive silhouettes are central to the rings I love designing in our London studio. Looking ahead, these are the directions I find most exciting.

These are my personal predictions, not an industry ranking or a list of rules. A trend is useful if it introduces you to something you love. It shouldn't choose your ring for you.

1. Teal, Violet and Lavender Sapphires

Teal sapphires remain firmly on my list for 2027, but I would also love to see violet, purple and lavender shades get more attention. There's a whole palette beyond traditional blue, from subtle colour to something much more dramatic.

The individual gemstone makes the difference. A pale lavender marquise and a deep teal oval can suggest entirely different designs, even before you choose the metal.

My design advice: Ask to see your chosen gemstone in different lighting conditions. A single photograph can't tell you everything about its colour.

2. Sculptural & Organic Settings

For 2027, I predict more interest in the setting as a design feature in its own right. Flowing metal, irregular outlines and carefully placed details can give a ring its identity without relying on a larger centre stone.

Organic doesn't have to mean elaborate. It might be the curve of a shoulder, the relationship between several stones or a detail that only becomes apparent from the side.

3. Warm Gold with Unexpected Gemstones

Yellow gold is part of my vision for the year ahead, particularly alongside cooler gemstone colours or strong dark accents. Its warmth can change the whole mood of a design.

Rather than declaring one metal the winner, I'd encourage you to compare how different metals work with your chosen stone. A ring in white metal, rose gold or yellow gold can have a very different character, even when the outline stays the same.

Browse our unique engagement rings for ideas, or explore mixed-metal designs if you don't want to limit yourself to a single colour.

4. Colour Clash Combinations

Ruby red beside pink sapphire. Violet against a warmer accent. A pale stone with something deeper and more saturated. My prediction is that contrasting colours will offer more starting points for personal ring designs in 2027.

The stones don't need to match to belong together. Their proportions, placement and the metal around them can make an unexpected pairing feel considered rather than chaotic.

5. Marquise Stones & East-West Settings

Elongated stones are another direction I want to explore in 2027. A marquise has a strong silhouette in its own right, with pointed ends that lend themselves to both restrained and architectural settings.

Turning an elongated stone across the finger, rather than along it, creates an east-west arrangement. It's a small change in orientation with a big effect on the outline of the ring.

Discover our marquise engagement rings, including Amoret and Maisie, or browse our east-west engagement rings for horizontal settings.

My design advice: Consider protection around pointed stone ends, everyday comfort and how the ring will sit beside a wedding band.

6. Lab Grown Diamonds in Design-Led Rings

My prediction for lab grown diamond rings is a greater focus on the complete design, rather than treating stone size as the only decision. Proportion, setting detail and the relationship between the diamond and the band deserve just as much consideration.

If you're comparing lab grown and mined diamonds, look at the individual stones, their pricing and the information available about their origins and production. A lab grown label alone doesn't establish an environmental or ethical advantage.

7. Toi et Moi Rings with Individuality

Two stones, one ring, plenty of possibilities. Toi et Moi means “You and Me”, but the pairing doesn't have to follow one fixed formula.

For 2027, I envisage more individual combinations of shape and colour. Two contrasting stones can each hold their own within the same design, whether you choose a personal meaning for them or simply love the way they look together.

8. Bespoke Design Beyond the Trend List

The thread running through my predictions is individuality. Not adding detail for the sake of it, but making choices that feel right for the person wearing the ring.

A bespoke conversation can begin with a gemstone, a colour combination, a shape or an idea you can't quite put into words yet. You don't need to arrive with a finished design. Working out how those ideas belong together is part of the process.

And if an existing design already feels like you, there is no need to make it more complicated just to make it different.

How to Choose Your Engagement Ring for 2027

Start by saving the designs that genuinely catch your eye. Look for what they have in common: colour, shape, an asymmetric arrangement or perhaps a particular metal.

Then consider the practical details alongside the appearance. Discuss your budget, lifestyle, gemstone suitability, setting and wedding-band plans before finalising the design.

Our standard made-to-order engagement-ring lead time is 3–6 weeks, with the timing for your chosen design confirmed when you order. Allow time for the design conversation and gemstone selection too, particularly if you have a proposal date in mind.
