Independent British Jeweller: The Art & Soul of Nude Jewellery
A Journey of Award-Winning Design
Nikki's path as an independent jeweller began with a bold move. At just 19, she left Scotland for the creative energy of the South, driven by a singular ambition: to master the art of jewellery design. Two years at KIAD (Kent Institute of Art & Design) quickly confirmed her talent — in 1993, Nikki was named a finalist in the prestigious Ayrton Metals Platinum Designer Award. She went on to refine her craft at the world-renowned Central St Martins School of Art in London, laying the foundation for everything that followed.
A Vision Born in Mayfair
Founded in 2001, Nude Jewellery became the ultimate expression of the skills Nikki had spent years perfecting at the bench. The brand was born from a desire to champion sculptural forms and vibrant colour over mass-produced uniformity — a philosophy that remains at the heart of everything we make. That same year, Nikki opened the Nude Jewellery boutique in Mayfair, London. For 14 years, it was a landmark destination for those seeking the genuinely avant-garde.
Its reputation as one of the country's premier independent jewellery boutiques was cemented by a string of industry accolades: named in Retail Jeweller's Inspiring Independents Top 50 in both 2012 and 2014, and shortlisted for Boutique of the Year at the UK Jewellery Awards in 2013. Famously described by Vogue.com as a "celebrity must-stop for unique gems," the boutique attracted icons like Elle Macpherson and became a creative hub where Nikki collaborated with fellow makers, including shoe designer Georgina Goodman.
A Lifelong Obsession with the Craft
Nikki's fascination with jewellery began long before her formal training. As a child in Scotland, she would seek out silver keepsakes on every family holiday. She vividly remembers her ninth birthday, spent dragging her mum around every jeweller in town in pursuit of a specific necklace she had set her heart on. She can still describe that piece in perfect detail — it likely still sits in her jewellery box, a testament to a lifelong love of design. That same obsession shapes her personal favourites today: the Chain Reaction Bracelet, worn every day for 14 years; her earliest work in the Solis Collection; and the elegant Amoret Marquise Solitaire Ring.
25 Years at the Bench
Today, Nikki works from our London studio, bringing over 25 years of expertise to exclusive commissions and bespoke collaborations — often beginning with nothing more than a conversation over coffee. "I love design with an edge," she says. "Asymmetry, chaos, or the sleek yet colourful lines of Art Deco. I wouldn't design anything that I wouldn't love and want to wear myself." We remain best known for our love of the unconventional. Where the industry prizes uniformity, Nikki celebrates the rare and the mismatched — hand-selecting every stone for its individual character, from the moody oceanic depths of Teal Sapphires to the warm glow of Champagne Diamonds.
