Hey there! It's been a while since I've shared my thoughts here, so I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. I'm Nikki Galloway, the proud owner of Nude Jewellery.
My journey in the jewellery world began back in 1998. I started out selling my handcrafted pieces to independent jewellery shops across the UK, and had a market stall in the heart of London at Piccadilly. It was a great start — I slowly built up a lovely group of regular customers from London and beyond. But then came a chilly, snowy day in March 2001 with barely any sales. That's when I thought: “I can do better than this!” and started cooking up a plan.
Fast forward to 6th December 2001 — Nude Jewellery was born. We opened our doors in the charming Shepherd Market area of Mayfair, London. Our shop was small but perfect, showcasing a variety of collections from different designers alongside our own in-house creations. I spent many happy years there, meeting amazing people (including some famous faces!), which was always a thrill.
Curious about our name? After countless chats with family and friends, two of my friends from St Martins Art School came up with ‘Nude Jewellery’. It was short, catchy, and I loved it — so it stuck. Though if I’d known how big the internet would become, I might have picked something different. But hey, you live and learn!
As the world changed over our 17 years in Mayfair, so did the way people shop. When the chance came up, and with two little ones at home, I decided to take the business fully online. It’s been fantastic — I get to do the school run, walk the dogs, and work from my garden studio or my laptop at home.
These days, I spend most of my time creating custom engagement rings and bespoke commissions, as well as working on our own unique designs across our silver and gold collections. No two days are ever the same, which is what makes it so special. I feel so lucky to have a job I truly love.
