It has been fascinating to watch the evolution of rose gold within my own studio. For many years at the beginning of my career, I was almost never asked to make a rose gold engagement ring; it was seen as a vintage curiosity rather than a modern choice.
However, in the past 15 years, there has been a huge surge in its popularity. Today, it is the metal of choice for those seeking something unique and unusual. It offers a distinct warmth that feels both fresh and heritage-inspired, making it the perfect canvas for our most unconventional designs.
What Exactly is Rose Gold?
Like white gold, rose gold does not exist naturally in the earth. It is an alloy, created by mixing pure 24ct gold with other metals to give it strength and its signature blush tone.
The secret to its beauty is copper. By blending pure gold with copper and a small amount of silver, we create a metal that is as durable as it is beautiful.
Rose Gold: A delicate, soft pink created with a balanced mix of copper and silver.
Red Gold: A deeper, more saturated hue achieved by using a higher percentage of copper and removing the silver entirely.

18ct Rose Gold: Contains 75% pure gold. This results in a refined, subtle champagne-pink tone. It is our preferred choice for engagement rings due to its high purity and elegant lustre.
9ct Rose Gold: Contains 37.5% pure gold. Because it has a much higher copper content, the colour is noticeably redder and more intense.
